Fifteen estates with a total area of 3,379 hectares conform the site. The production area occupies 1,136 hectares devoted to harvest coffee with shade trees.
OVER 65% OF THE TERRITORY CONSERVED AS NATURAL PROTECTED AREA
Our traditional processes for growing coffee with shade trees contribute to the conservation of the protected corridor and support wildlife refuges, also protecting native forests and water supply.
In Custepec we conserve more than 65% of the territory as a Natural Reserve. The remaining 2,243 hectares are managed as natural areas, contributing to the conservation of the protected corridor Reserva de la Biosfera El Triunfo in the State of Chiapas, and supporting wildlife refuges. In addition, a Private Reserve of Ecological Servitude has been established with legal scope by Conservation International and Pronatura.
MINOR ECOLOGICAL IMPACT CERTIFIED PRODUCTION
It is Rainforest Alliance Certified, which gives us access to one of the most demanding and concerned markets about sustainability, within a framework of respect for the worker and nature. Furthermore, this certification promotes efficient production with the least ecological impact. In addition, we are Starbucks’ strategic provider with the 4C approval and C.A.F.E. Practices Certificate.
The Rainforest Alliance certification ensures that our coffee is grown on land where forests–, rivers–, soils– and wildlife are protected. Additionally, it supports our social responsibility to ensure that our employees are treated with dignity, get paid decent wages, have the proper equipment and have access to education and health systems.

Custepec is a well-positioned coffee brand and one of the best in the world. With an altitude above 1,100 meters and a wellmarked rainy season, we can harvest at optimum ripeness of the fruit getting a clean cup and special organoleptic characteristics.

The coffee farms that conform Custepec have a special microclimate, because the sowing is planted in block so different production sites coexist between areas of cloud forest in a climate that provides stability and provides moisture for good bean development.
Production costs have decreased and the quality and efficiency of our production have improved through sustainable management systems. In Café Custepec we follow rigorous parameters in the management of land with a traditional agro-system, resulting in an extraordinary habitat for wildlife, unlike monoculture farms whose production is higher, but at great environmental cost.
